About pal

Hagai’s Portable Art Laboratory (PAL) is a Studio, Live art theatre, Art gallery, Installation, Experimental kitchen, dining place and Art research laboratory located in a portable, self-sustained box/food trailer.

In PAL Hagai performs in front of four people at a time. Every performance includes raconteuring (the art of the raconteur, story teller) https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/raconteuring

followed by serving samples of dishes related to the story. Hagai connects stories and ideas to flavours and memory that are part of the journey that brought him to this space and time.

You can read here about this point at: Proust syndrome-Involuntary memory.

“The core of all that happens in, out and around PAL is me. This is My story, and this is how I tell it.”

H.Erman

The Trailer:

The exterior: inside-out

The exterior is the inside of an Australian house.

The exterior is not finished yet. When it is finished it will look like that:

The half dining room is a sculpture in the middle of the trailer (finished). On the wall behind there will be a wall-paper, and on the left side, a kitchen window with old style kitchen curtains. The triangle in the front of the trailer will be covered with a mix of drawers/doors sculpture while on the wall behind it there will be half a shelf of books beside two trees.

You can read more about this at: Inside-out Outside-in & Douglas Adams.

Interior: Inside-out

The interior divide to a kitchen/studio/stage on the left and Australian backyard on the right.

The backyard where the audience of four people stand is a lifted stage/lawn with four big flowers function as tables coming out from mulch. The backyard surrounded by treated pine fence and reuse 100 years old weatherboard taken from a demolished house. The lighting fixture made from storm pipes. Throw a big window one can pick inside the house to see Hagai’s Art work.

You can read more about this at: Kafka and Me.

Live art theatre:

Wherever PAL stops it is ready for shows. Shows will be tailored for the audience and will include a story. Every story will be accompanied by a food sample connecting taste and memory.  Every show is 10-15 min for four people.

You can see samples of the shows in my video section.

You can book shows here Shows.

Art gallery:

Except being an installation, PAL is also a gallery, a place where I display new and old pieces of my drawings and sculptures.

You can see my Drawing gallery.

You are welcome to buy some of my works in my Shop.

Installation:

Inside out, PAL is one big installation in progress. When stopping for shows it becomes part of the environment; a kind of tempered street statue. The environment that PAL will park in will become part of PAL. Day or Night, City or Bush, PAL will create an emotional and physical dialog with the place it is in.
